THEME FOR THE NEXT CITY HALL SUBMISSIONS

Oviedo Heroes

The deadline for submissions is Wednesday, November 22, 2017.
Your photographs should be of firefighters, police officers, veterans, active duty military, or anyone acting as a local hero. 
Photos must have been taken after November 21, 2015.  Each photographer can submit up to 5 photos. If you would like to enter photos please email the club for access to a dropbox folder.

SEPTEMBER FIELD TRIP 

The Orlando Architecture field trip that was scheduled for Sunday, September 10, will be rescheduled to a future date.

President's Message

First, I want to thank Jerry and Helen for opening their home to us for our Labor Day Cook-In.  While the weather was a little bleak outside we had a great time sharing wonderful food and just getting to know one another a little better.

As I write this message we are all waiting to see what Irma and Jose have in store for us.  As with the eclipse, the coming storms remind us that Mother Nature does what she wants, where she wants and when.  Please do not go outside during the storm to take photos.  While there may be some great photo ops out there, no photo is worth more than your safety.

Plan ahead!



We will be hosting a booth at the Oviedo Farmer's Market the first Saturday in October, so decide what you would like to display. 

Space is a bit more restricted this year, so we are asking that members submit no more than three photographs and we will not be able to accommodate boxed prints.  All photographs should be mounted or framed and ready to hang.  

 As in prior years, the photographs may be offered for sale or simply displayed to "show off" your work.  Any photograph offered for sale must be marked with a price and the member must be present.

The Oviedo Farmer's Market is held the first Saturday of each month at the Lawton House.

For the meeting bring 5-7 pictures taken at recent events, for the monthly photo challenge or any other recent photos.  Bring your photos on a thumb drive.  It is very helpful if you use the date of the meeting "SEPT 18" in naming the folders so we can be sure to show the right ones and to make it easy for our projectionist.

It is time again this year to get some shots of the gorgeous sunflowers that bloom every year off SR 417 without getting your feet wet or stepping in cow pies?  Get a different perspective on the dazzling field of flowers from an airboat and we will likely see an alligator or two as well.
Cost per person is $50.00 for a one hour ride.


Please RSVP above with the number attending (ex: you and a guest?) as we need an exact number attending.

City of Oviedo
Call for Photos for New Website

A new website is under development by the City of Oviedo and they have asked the club to take photos in Oviedo to feature in a slideshow on the home page.  Possible subjects include city government buildings, city parks, and other historic buildings and structures.  Photos can be color or monochrome but they should not have any HDR or photoshop "effects" applied.  Minor exposure adjustments and minimal cropping will be allowed.  Only current members of the Oviedo Photo Club may submit images for consideration.  More detailed submission guidelines are available to members.  Published photos will be credited to the Oviedo Photo Club.

In addition to selling photography equipment and hobby supplies, they also hold in-store photo classes, including Basic Digital SLR Class and How To Use Your Point & Shoot Camera.  Classes are being held Fridays and Saturdays.  Call them for more information and to register.
